No student of Mohali city figured in the merit list of 517 students, who cleared the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class VIII exams, the result of which was declared here on Monday.
Neha Bansal of DAV Model Senior Secondary School, Kurali, topped Mohali district by securing 121st position in the merit list released by PSEB Chairman Dr Dalbir Singh Dhillon. Of the total 5 merit positions secured in Mohali district, Navneet Kaur of G S Memorial Public Senior Secondary School, Zirakpur, got 197th position, Nitika Goel of Acharya Atma Ram Jain Model Senior Secondary School, Dera Bassi, stood 247th, Pawandeep Suman of Sarvhitkari Senior Secondary Vidya Mandir, Dera Bassi, bagged the 377th position, and Kamal Saini of Sarvhitakri Senior Secondary Vidya Mandir, Dera Bassi, secured the 479th position.
Though there are around 15 schools, including a government, affiliated to PSEB in Mohali city but none of their students were able to shine in the Class VIII annual exams. Local educationists opine that due to Mohali’s proximity to Chandigarh, most of the local students prefer to study in Chandigarh schools affiliated to CBSE or ICSE.
