Kendriya Vidyalaya, AFS High Grounds, Chandigarh, is buzzing with celebrations after principal Dr S P Shergill was felicitated with the national award on the occasion of Teachers’ Day by Vice-President Hamid Ansari at New Delhi.
“It was a joyous occasion for the staff and students. They accorded her a warm welcome with loud cheers, showering of petals, salutes and bouquets followed by a cultural programme,” said the school spokesperson.
In her address to the school, Dr Shergill expressed gratitude to her colleagues for their support. “Dr Shergill has rendered 30 years of selfless service to the school as a Maths teacher and as principal. Since July 2, 2008, she has been shouldering the responsibilities of principal. She was also honoured by Lions Club, Chandigarh, for her contribution in the field of education. In 1996, the Ministry of Human Resources conferred upon her the incentive award,” the spokesperson added.
