More than 24 hours after a district labour inspector and his colleague were allegedly manhandled by CTC Plaza employees, the Panchkula police have failed to register an FIR despite receiving a compliant in the matter.
Joginder Singh and his steno Sumit Kumar had gone to the CTC Plaza showroom in Sector 11 on Monday evening to issue challans to the owner for opening on an off day. Singh had alleged that the owner of the showroom, along with his two workers, manhandled them.
Since Monday night,I have been making all efforts to get a case registered in the case. Instead of taking action, the police are forcing us to compromise. If this is the way that a government official on duty is treated and is harassed further when no action is taken against the guilty,it is a poor reflection on the district policing, Singh said. He added that he has communicated the episode to the Haryana labour commissioner who has assured him of suitable action.
While Panchkula Superintendent of Police Amitabh Dhillon could not be contacted,Deputy Commissioner Rajender Kataria said: I have asked my SDM to look into the matter and action is expected against the accused.
Meanwhile, police post in-charge of Sector 10,ASI Surjit Kumar, said: Though a compromise was reached between the two parties, the labour inspector wanted to give a complaint against the showroom workers and owner on Tuesday. Though we are again looking into the matter,no FIR has been registered till now.
