Laid 6 months back, sewerage pipes in Industrial Area-C cause inconvenience

The industrialists running their factories in Industrial Area-C, Dhandari Kalan, are a harried lot. Reason: the new sewerage lines laid by the Water and Sewerage Board in the area six months back have turned out to be a headache for the locals.

"The board has still not connected the sewerage pipes with the main connection. Every kind of filth, garbage and other waste now lies in the open. Even people have created open dumping grounds by digging the soil and throwing the waste there, as there is no other place to dispose it of," said Pawan Sood, an industrialist.

Sood alleged they had complained to the board on November 5. The complaint was referred to Sub-Divisional Officer Amrik Singh, and an employee visited the site. "But then I was told to take up the matter with executive engineer of the area who again told me to go back to SDO Amrik Singh. Finally, the SDO told me that lines had to be connected to the main sewerage line on National Highway-1 and the work could not be done as junior engineer was on leave. He has not returned from the leave as yet," added Sood.

When contacted, Manjit Singh, superintendent engineer, said, "I cannot comment on what others did or said but the matter has reached me for the first time and I will make sure that sewerage lines are connected to the main line at the earliest. Our engineer will be visiting the site in this regard."
