  • About 10 years ago, I was going through a rough patch in my life. Not only was I facing financial problems but emotional vacuum too. But the ordeal has changed me forever. I have become a more polished and refined person," says Neeraj Anand, nicknamed Naazi by friends and family.

It was during that time that Anand, a local businessman, found solace in spirituality and meditation. "During those days, I used to meditate a lot and also started reading and writing sufiana poetry," he says.

Reluctant to give his creativity the shape of a book, he was pushed by friends to publish his works. "I succumbed to the pressure of my friends," he beams. His maiden book Zindgi Yeh Zindgi released on Saturday. A retired professor of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Dr Satya Nand Sewak has edited his work.

For this poet, who is in his mid 30s, it is just the beginning as he stares at a collection of his works. "When I was compiling my works, I found that there was enough material for me to publish at least two books but I thought to start with just one," he said.

Anand said that his greatest achievement was when his father Ramesh Chander Anand felt elated when his book was released. "My joy knew no bounds when my father said that due to my book, his prestige in the society has increased," Anand smiles.
