The Maoist siege of Lalgarh, post-poll violence in parts of West Bengal, organisational problems in Kerala and its worst-ever defeat at the hustings would come up for review at a meeting of CPM's highest decision-making bodies in New Delhi from Friday.

Top leaders of the party, including Chief Ministers of West Bengal, Kerala and Tripura, are expected to participate in the meetings of the Politburo and Central Committee.

The prime concern of party leaders would be to find ways and means to tackle the Maoist violence which they allege was being actively backed by Trinamool Congress in its bid to "destabilise" the Left Front government in West Bengal.

"Trinamool Congress is trying to destabilise the pro-poor Left government by unleashing terror in connivance of Maoist forces in parts of West Bengal," CPM Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat said at a meeting in New Delhi.

Accusing Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee of "leading this violence from behind the scenes", she said the "planned and systematic strategy to weaken Left parties by the fascist forces would be resisted in all forms".

On the party's electoral performance, the state units of West Bengal and Kerala, where CPM-led coalitions suffered their worst poll debacle since the party's inception in 1964, have accepted that the idea of Third Front championed by Left parties was rejected by the people and there have been serious violations of communist principles by its followers which led to this rout.
