Lalu back in form, takes on Cong leaders in LS

RJD chief Lalu Prasad was back in form in Lok Sabha reciting a line from an old Bollywood song to tell the Cong leadership that they should not forget old friends.

After a humiliating defeat at the hustings,RJD chief Lalu Prasad was back in form in Lok Sabha reciting a line from an old Bollywood song to tell the Congress leadership that they should not forget those who had helped them before.

Jab matlab nikal gaya to pehchante nahin (when your purpose is served, you forget me)” was the line from the song which Prasad recited, looking towards the treasury benches where Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were sitting.

An anguished Prasad, while participating in the debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address, also said that he had protested to Gandhi as he had felt “insulted” by certain Congress leaders after the election results.

He,however, made it clear that he had no complaints against Gandhi or the Prime Minister as they were “good and sincere people”.

“And this is not TTM,” he said provoking the entire House into a bout of laughter.

Prasad had earlier elaborated what TTM stood for. It was the abbreviation for ‘Tabad Tod Tel Maalish’ or full-fledged sycophancy.

“Those who indulge in TTM have no class. They are present in all parties and leaders should be aware of them,” he said.

Regarding his party’s performance in the elections, the RJD chief said “the CPI and CPI (M) are organised parties after the BJP. The people have now put us at the same level as the CPI. Both our parties have four seats each (in the Lok Sabha).”

In a veiled warning to the Congress they should not be complacent,he said “Delhi is a ‘maya nagari’ (a city of illusions) and those who come here don’t do so permanently. So many people came here to rule in the past. … Krishan went away,Rama and Rahim too.”

Prasad also had a dig at BJP leader L K Advani, saying his projection as the saffron party’s prime ministerial candidate was bound to fail. “I had told him earlier itself that becoming the Prime Minister was not written in his ‘kundali’ (fate)”.

When Speaker Meira Kumar asked him to conclude his speech,Prasad remarked “You belong to my region (Bihar). You should be a little partial towards me and give me more time.”
