Lalu kin, domestic help found murdered

Former Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Yadav's brother-in-law and his domestic help were found murdered at two different places in Patna on Tuesday morning. Subhash Yadav is brother-in-law of RJD chief Lalu Prasad.

Pappu Yadav alias Pankaj Yadav (36), a clerk with the Bihar Legislative Council, was out on bail. He had been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a Gaya-based businessman.

Pappu was found shot dead from close range near a canal behind Digha police station. His domestic help, Bablu (28), was found shot dead at Pappu's Akashwani Road residence at Ashiana Nagar under Rajiv Nagar police station. Both the bodies had bullet injuries on head.

Pappu's luxury vehicle was also missing. The police suspect that the car was used by the criminals.

His mobile phone was found by a passersby at Saguna Mod under Danapur police station. The passersby called the police using Pappu's phone and subsequently, the police recovered his body.

The police said Pappu, who looked after the transport business and a liquor shop owned by Subhash Yadav, may have been killed because of business rivalry. Pappu, a resident of Mirganj under Gopalganj, had been living in Patna for several years. His wife had been living separately for some years.

Patna SSP Amrit Raj said: "We cannot say anything about the motive behind the twin murders. We are looking at all possible aspects."

Subhash Yadav, who reached the spot, refused to answer mediapersons' queries. Pappu's family has not made any allegation so far.

Lalu Prasad hit out at Nitish Kumar government for law and order problems. "We are not making reference to any particular incident. The RJD has been raising law and order deterioration at every forum," said a senior RJD leader.
