  • Shivraj Patil is under fire from both opposition and UPA allies for his handling of internal security.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil on Monday came under pressure after a key UPA constituent and a Cabinet colleague attacked the handling of terrorism and demanded an urgent meeting of the Cabinet and all political parties to discuss the issue.

RJD chief and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, who met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Congress president after Delhi blasts earlier in the day and discussed the situation in the wake of serial Delhi blasts on Saturday that claimed 24 lives, however, did not take Patil's name directly.

"A special Cabinet meeting should be called to discuss threadbare issues arising out of the blasts in Delhi," he told reporters in New Delhi adding the Prime Minister assured him that he would call a meeting in a couple of days.

He said UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi should also call an all-party meeting to debate the issue of terrorism.

Prasad blamed intelligence failure for the Delhi blasts, saying inputs from the IB are always "vague".

Asked about Patil's statements after every blast, the Railway Minister said, "Do I contradict whatever you say".

The RJD chief demanded constitution of a special task force to deal with terrorism-related cases.

Attacking the intelligence agencies, Prasad said the Delhi blasts were a result of intelligence failure. "The Intelligence Bureau inputs are always vague and should be more specific," he added.

"A mechanism should be evolved to tackle such situation," Prasad said.

"After bomb blasts we remain alert for a day or two only whereas the alertness should be a continuous process. There should not be any slackness in maintaining vigil all the time," Prasad said.

Laloo v ShivrajBy: Wasoo Kamulkar | 16-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward RJD blasts Patil Shivraj Patil is just a lame duck- Bali ka Bakra! The narcissistic Maratha was given the cabinet birth only to fox Sharad Pawar and not because he outshone Sardar Vallabbhai Patel or Govind Vallabh Pant (an UPian of Maratha origin). Examin Laloo’s embarrassment over Shivraj Patil against the back-drop of Laloo’s public credentials to SIMI, only a few weeks ago. There is no need to give importance to ‘Malvolio’ Laloo Prasad , Mulla Mulayam, Paswan and Amar Sinh. These vote-bank-slaves of the Muslims are responsible for the SIMI’s serial rapes of the Hindu psyche. Pack off the Tsarina, Baba and Priyanka to the ‘Maino Land’ for good. It is time the Congress is blown off the ‘Firmament’. The Train bearer Margaret Alva and Weeping willow Renuka Choudhary should follw suit before they offer Hindusthan on a platter to the Vatican. Have a heart! Osama and Al-Zawahiri have first lien over Jaswahar -land, Or Hindus should unite to reincarnate Savarkar Hindu Maha Sabha .
Laloo ka bhai SIMIBy: Indian | 16-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward Lalu rein in your SIMI brothers instead of blaming everything on Patil. Your SIMI brothers have killed our kins. So we consider you as a murderer- that's one more crime feather on your cap.
LALU HAS ONE DAUGHTER NAMED MISA AND OTHER SIMI- THAT IS WHY HE LOVES SIMI SO MUCH- I WILL ADVICE HIM TO GET HER MARRIED SO THAT SHE GOES TO HER SASOORAL.By: . | 16-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward .
UPA is the enemy within, led by Italian and kitchen hand.By: Neck Breaker | 16-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward Laloo, Mulayam, Mayawati, Manmohan Singh, Italiano are hob-nobbing with SIMI. Don't forget Reddy of Andhra had taken the help of Naxalites and Islamic terrorist to win.
Political Casinovas!By: vijay | 16-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward Wow! That's the "RESPONSIBLE" statement made with lot of concern and cautiousness to be the next 'PRIME' (Minist)Lead'er'. Good! Good! India is a Casino with many political 'casinovas'. Keep playing the game until the whole country becomes a political 'whore' country.
Pro-active approach requiredBy: Ramshesh | 16-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward I am surprised that no such statements came when there were problems in Bangalore. It appears that only when things happen in Delhi, our politicians take some note of. Whoever is striking, has been doing with such ease - our politicians with securty guards will continue to appease minority and talk about opening of the Indo-pak border, but they seem least concerned about common man's suffering. Price rise: another issue. Our PM is acclaimed to be one of the greatest reformers - but look what has been happning under his tenure...nothing constructive as I can see...
Babar Khalsa PMBy: Beena | 16-Sep-2008 Reply | Forward "Our PM is acclaimed to be one of the greatest reformers", Reformer or distroyer ? Manmohan Singh is a sympthiser of Babar Khalsa.
