In a major decision that can end the alleged corruption by talathis in issuance of the 7×12 extracts (Record of Land Rights) to citizens,the district collectorate on Wednesday directed all its tehsil offices to stop issuing hand-written land record documents,which are issued by talathis,and only issue computerised certificate. In local parlance,it is called,“Saat bara Utara.”

The directives followed the government resolution issued to district collectorates last month.

“The computerisation of all the land records of 2.11 crore 7 × 12 extracts in all the 358 tehsils of the state is complete. The data entry,verification and validation work are over. The distribution of computerised documents has also begun,” J K Gharat,secretary,state revenue department,said.

The computerisation programme has been promoted by the union government.

He said the computerised land record certificates has been receiving good response from citizens.

As per the union government guidelines of an urgent need to stop the manual issue of land record,7 × 12 extract,Gharat said all the district administration offices in the state have been directed to only follow the computerisation process of issuing the certificate.

He said all the tehsil offices in the state are computerised and have power supply backup of six hours. “The district administration has given directives to all tehsil offices to implement the government decision with immediate effect.”
