In a bid to make commuting more entertaining, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport Undertaking (BEST) will install its ambitious Visual Interactive Transit Entertainment System in its buses. According to the BEST,commuters can get info on the next stop, tips on horoscope and cooking besides information on branded goods while on journey after installing the systems in the buses. Through the Visual Interactive Transit Entertainment System, the BEST commuters can get info on horoscope, cooking, shops near at the next bus stop and more importantly, the next arriving bus stop, said Kaushik Tanna, managing director of Realtime Interactive. We have tied up with news channels for latest news,Bejan Daruwlala for horoscope and with Tarla Dalal for cooking tips. The news would be basically on the city. This will put an end to unwanted advertisements. Earlier, several commuters had complained about noisy advertisements. This has led to the introduction of the system in the BEST buses. The screens would be larger than the earlier ones. The project was much awaited and was launched by the BEST with much fanfare. The project was passed by the BEST committee long ago and has still not been fully executed, said BEST committee member Ravi Raja. Other committee members also voiced their concern about the delay of the project. We hope that project gets over at the earliest. There are over 5000 buses of which 200 are AC coaches. The first priority will be given to AC buses, said a BEST committee chairman. We have already started work and have installed the systems in a few buses at Majas depot, said Tanna.
