Suman added that he was a mere soldier of Mamata and she should be voted to end the 32 years of CPM reign of terror. “Bengal never had any democracy. Today democracy is emerging from Lalgarh,Nandigram and Singur,” he added.

In turn,Banerjee also batted for the writer and threw an open challenge to the ruling party. “They have conveniently undertaken delimitation to make us weak. But I challenge them that we will not only win Kolkata south but Jadavpur as well,” said Banerjee.

She accused that the present CPM MP had done nothing for Jadavpur and whenever elections were announced,the CPM always went on a foundation stone laying spree. “This is the Assembly constituency of the CM and look at the appalling state of the only stadium here,” she said.

Banerjee also chalked out strategies for the forthcoming elections. “Please check the EVM machine very accurately. You can never trust the ruling party. We also need to find the CPM cadres,who carry multiple voter ID cards,” she added.

Mamata claimed that the CPM was so scared of an embarrassing defeat that it could even get its patriarch Jyoti Basu to address the people. “Yesterday they did not let him speak at the gathering. They just made him read out a few lines written by them,” she said.
