  • The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has slashed the registration amount of its houses under the Apna Ghar scheme for General category applicants from Rs 30,000 to Rs 15,000.

Earlier, the relaxation was available only for reserved category candidates including Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe. The relaxation has been made for 8,350 economically weaker section (EWS) category houses being built under the Apna Ghar housing scheme. The LDA vice-chairman, Mukesh Kumar Meshram, said: “All the applicants of EWS houses are poor irrespective of their castes . So the registration amount should be relaxed for all applicants.”

The registration amount of LIG houses remained the same, he added. The registration for houses under Apna Ghar began from August 24 and will continue till September 23. The scheme has received a good response as in the first six days, LDA has sold 8295 application forms.
