The Junior Boys final of the Le Meridien Trophy Table Tennis Tournament will see the top two seeds clashing for the title at the Deccan Gymkhana today. First seed Chinmay Datar beat fifth seed Adwait Brahme comfortably in five sets, while his second-seeded counterpart Neel Joshi was pushed to the limit by surprise semifinalist Varun Shastri.

Shastri shocked his higher-ranked opponent in the first set of the match, winning it 11-9. However,Joshi recovered and bounced back strongly, taking the next three consecutive sets, although they were closely fought. The sixth seed refused to back down in spite of this setback, and edged the next two sets 13-11 each to tie the match. The second seed managed to maintain his composure to win the decider 11-6 and book his place in the final.

In the Girls semifinal, top seed Tanvi Lapalikar was given a scare by fourth seed Chaitrali Bokil, who won the first two sets 11-9,11-8. She proved her mettle, however, taking the next four consecutive sets, including a marathon fifth set, which she finally won 15-13 to set up a title clash against third seed Manasi Munj.
