• He reached the mark by dismissing Indian skipper Anil Kumble, caught by Adam Gilchrist on Day 2 of the Melbourne Test. It ws his 62nd Test

• Other Australians in the list are: Shane Warne (708 wickets in 145 Tests), Glenn McGrath (563 wickets in 124 Tests), Dennis Lillee (355 wickets in 70 Tests), Craig McDermott (291 wickets in 71 Tests) and Jason Gillespie (259 wickets in 71 Tests)

• Lee also became the 12th Australian bowler to take 25 or more wickets against India in Tests when he dismissed Zaheer Khan

Sachin Tendulkar became the third Indian batsman to score eight or more half centuries against Australia in Tests with his 62 off 77 balls today. It was his eighth fifty in 22 Tests against Australia

• Other Indians with the same record are: Gundappa Viswanath (nine fifties in 18 Tests), Rahul Dravid (eight fifties in 19 Tests) and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi (eight fifties in 11 Test matches)

• Tendulkar also became the first Indian to score 15 fifty-plus scores against Australia in Tests

• Stuart Clark, playing his maiden Test against India, recorded his second-best bowling performance in Tests by taking 4/28 in 15 overs

• The right arm medium fast bowler’s best bowling is 5/55 against South Africa in Cape Town in 2005-06

Adam Gilchrist became the first Australian and third wicket-keeper overall to complete a half-century of catches against India
