A Left Front delegation on Friday met Agriculture Minister Rabindranath Bhattacharjee and demanded a hike in the minimum support price (MSP) of jute and paddy. Jute farmers are forced to sell their produce below the MSP, said CPM MLA Anisur Rehman. They demanded the MSP of jute should be increased from existing Rs 2,150 per quintal to Rs 3,000 and that of paddy from existing Rs 1,080 per quintal to Rs 2,000.
