The Left Front have alleged that the Trinamool Congress was preventing police from taking action against goons who were attacking Opposition workers. It also accused the ruling party of issuing a diktat against organising rallies by Left Front workers.
A Left Front delegation led by CPM leader Rabin Deb on Friday submitted a memorandum to the state Home Secretary listing Trinamool-sponsored attacks against Left activists in Kolkata.
Deb alleged that more than 25 complaints have been lodged at various police stations against Trinamool-backed for assaulting Leftists since the new government assumed power. No action has, however, been taken because of political intervention, Deb added.
He said the attacks have largely taken place in Beliaghata, Tangra, Gobra and Kasba, and alleged that the attacks did not stop even after the Commissioner of Kolkata Police was informed about them.
