Admiting that reports of some officials not hearing out the party workers had come in,SAD president and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Tuesday warned all such officials to mend their ways and start working in public interest,or else they would have no right to hold public offices.
We are keeping tabs on such officials and would soon act against them, he said, addressing a meet of the SAD workers. A similar meeting was organised at Faridkot on Monday.
Sukhbir told the workers to come to the party office in Chandigarh if they were not heard properly or had some issues to be resolved.
Trying to put the SAD flock together after former finance minister Manpreet Badals ouster from the party,Badal junior urged leaders and workers to see through the divisive forces working at the behest of the opposition Congress. We should forget personal differences and work unitedly for putting up a strong and united Akali Dal and thwart the attempts of the Congress in trying to divide the SAD.
Asserting that the SAD was the common mans party unlike the Congress which supported the moneyed and the rich, the Deputy Chief Minister said the Congress stood fully exposed after the series of multi-billion scams, and the SAD would expose the real face of the Congress at the grassroots level.
He said the party would win SGPC elections by defeating proxy candidates being sponsored by the Congress, which was responsible for massacre of thousands of Sikhs in 1984.
Sukhbir said the workers meets being organised in each district were aimed at channelising the party workers in one direction: to defeat the divisive forces and highlight the achievements of the SAD-BJP regime and failure of the Congress-led UPA at the Centre.
Prominent among those present at the meet were Rajya Sabha MP Balwinder Singh Bhunder, former minister Gurdev Singh Badal, former MP P S Chandumajra,Akali minister Ajit Singh Kohar and local leaders Didar Singh Bhatti,Jagdeep Singh Cheema,Satwinder Kaur Dhaliwal and Karnail Singh Panjoli.
