  • Two days after a leopard made a ‘surprise visit’ to a farmhouse in Alipur, the elusive animal has reappeared.

A call was made to the PCR on Thursday morning. The caller said a “lion like creature” was roaming near the Government Senior Secondary school at Alipur. The Forest Department team reached as early as 5.30 am — only to find a nilgai.

But checking near the mushroom fields where the leopard was first spotted, revealed fresh pugmarks. “The fact that there are nilgais in the area means the leopard can survive here till we find it,” said an official from the Forest Department.
