Lashkar-e-Toiba and other Pakistani jihadi groups are entrenching themselves in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir and the local government apparently under pressure from Islamabad is providing them official facilities,a spokesman of the United Kashmir People’s National Party (UKPNP) has said.
Mujtaba Ali Shah,Secretary of UKPNP,said that LeT and militants from other jihadi groups were being accommodated in state-run schools and madrassas in PoK.
“I myself have witnessed the fact that the Lashkar-e-Toebba and other jihadi groups have entrenched their positions in PoK and the puppet government there has instructed the local administration to accommodate the Pakistani and other jihadis by all means possible”,Shah said while addressing the ‘Black-Day Conference’ on Kashmir in Watford, near here.
He said when local people protested the activities of the LeT militants in PoK,they were murdered or disappeared. The comments by the Britain-based PoK leader of the presence and mushrooming of LeT and other Pakistani jihadi groups in occupied Kashmir comes as New Delhi has been pointing to the presence of militant camps across the border.
The Conference, organised by Kashmir National Party, condemned “tribal invasion” of Jammu and Kashmir in 1947,charging it was planned and supported by government of Pakistan.
Mujtaba Ali Shah said the annexation of Gilgit-Beltistan through dictatorial means and the imposiition of the governor on the occupied people had fully exposed Pakistan and its false claim that Pakistan was a sincere friend of Kashmiris.
In his key note address,Dr Shabir choudhry,Spokesman of Kashmir National Party said: “The tribal invasion was planned and supported by government of Pakistan and aim was to punish the Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir who refused to accede to Pakistan or India.
“If there was no tribal invasion then there might have been no Kashmir dispute as we see it today. It was possible that both countries in absence of this dispute could have resolved other issues and could have developed friendly and cordial relations, and that could have led to peace and stability in the region.”
The conference was organised to examine the tribal invasion of Jammu and Kashmir. Claiming that the struggle was not against Pakistan or India,KNP chairman Abbas Butt said “our struggle is against injustice and wrong policies of Pakistan and India.”
Sardar Shaukat Ali Kashmiri,Chairman of United Kashmir People’s National Party said “Kashmiri struggle is a political struggle. It is not fight against any religion or any community. We have common problems and we have common enemy and that is illiteracy, poverty and extremism.”
Mujtaba Ali Shah,Secretary,Information of the UKPNP spoke against the rise of religious intolerance in areas of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir and Gilgit-Beltistan.
