Influential American Senator John Kerry met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday and discussed the Mumbai terror attacks and the situation arising out of it.

During the meeting, Singh is understood to have apprised the Senator about the details of attack which were carried out by the Pakistan-based outfit, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Kerry, a Democrat Senator considered close to President-elect Barack Obama, has said LeT was being nurtured by Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI, which had founded the terror organisation.

He has also demanded reform of the ISI.

Kerry's visit to India comes four days after the US Congress asked Pakistan to "root out" all extremist groups operating in the country and ensure that its territory is not used as a "safe haven and training ground" for terrorists.

His visit follows a stream of visits from the United States, including that of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte, influential senator John McCain and Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen.

The United States has already mounted pressure on Pakistan to act against terror groups responsible for the attacks in Mumbai.

Surgical Air Strikes MUSTBy: Shekhar | 16-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward Why is India waiting for Pak to take action-- it is pathetic and ridiculous ! India's respect and prestige would have grown many fold internationally if the surgical air strikes are put into motion swiftly. Even now it is not too late. Act first, talk later! Indian leaders have a responsibility to honor the lives lost. The leaders would also get terrific appluase if they take the bold decision and order precision air strikes on terror camps and hideouts. A strong and powerful message will go out to the criminals that we will not take things lying down. The confidence and pride of citizens in the Indian Govt. will get a major boost !! What is the Indian Govt. waiting for --there is so much public anger and demand for action -- an offensive action will get 100
Security AgenciesBy: Amarjeet Bawa | 16-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward I agree with Kaleem. If ISI is dismantled, who will destablise the sub-continent. Pakistan was created for this purpose. To fulfil this motive, Pakistan created ISI. Pakistan had been surviving on the aids provided to her by her masters to nurture this outfit and create mayhem in the neighbouring countries. It will be great injustice to Pak, if ISI is liquidated, who will support Pak's economy!
Pak military is the problemBy: Andreew | 16-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward Stop donating arms to Pak military first. The $10 billion US gave to Pakistan was used to prepare for terrorist activities against India, US and other Western powers. Lets declare the pakistan's army as the biggest terrorist organization in the world, first and take an unified action against it. All other problems will be solved.
Camiflouge and doublespeak are the best weapons available to terrorists through the government of Pakistan.By: Raman | 16-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward I wish to question how many times Indian agencies or soldiers have killed innocent people of other countries in a blood bath. The answer would be close to zero. On the other hand what Pakistan has done to us- killed 80,000 in kashmir (both hindus and muslims) and the current spree is not an exception- but this time they get caught when the world is looking at answers against terrorism as it has been camiflouged by the civilian governmental face of Pakistan, while it's agencies operate with ruthlessness that matches those of nefarious dacoits.
