The claims of responsibility, made by certain Pakistani outfits with reported affiliation to Lashkar -e-Taiba (LeT),could be a ploy to divert the focus of investigators in the Pune terror attack, city police commissioner Satyapal Singh said on Thursday.
“It could be a tactic to divert attention. These two groups are unheard of,” he told reporters here.
Laskhar-e-Taiba Al Alami,a hitherto unheard terror outfit, had claimed that it carried out the Pune blast.
Investigations into the February 13 German Bakery blast were being jointly conducted by the ATS,NIA and NSG,Singh said, adding “some persons” suspected of having links with the terrorists had been questioned.
Asked about reported detention of some persons in Karnataka in connection with the blast,he said “I have no official information”.
On the possibility of a “local hand” in league with the perpetrators of the Pune blast,Singh said it had not been established so far.
“We are not ruling out any group,” he added.
Singh said police were coordinating with Pune Municipal Corporation in removing the large number of unauthorized constructions that had come up in the Koregaon Park area which housed the German Bakery and also the potential terrorist targets that included the Osho Ashram and Jewish Centre,Chhabad House.
