LG Display, innovator of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) technology, won the Gold Award for Display of the Year from SID (Society for Information Display).
The recognition affirms the companys world-leading 3D technology which is backed by LGs innovative In Plane Switching (IPS) technology.
Display of Year Award was presented during a ceremony held last week in Seattle,US. LG Displays 3D LCD panel is a full HD 47-inch for use with polarized glasses. It was the worlds first large-area 3D TV LCD panel to be mass produced and received high marks for playing an integral part in opening the era of 3D TV.
The panel produces crisp and true-to-life 3D images in addition to realizing superior quality 2D images thanks to the application of IPS technology.
IPS technology offers vivid & clear 3D motion picture because of its fast MPRT (Motion Picture Response Time) and the same color from any viewing angle to give more natural 3D picture to everyone. Viewing experience is therefore enhanced as viewers are assured that there will be no colour distortion from any angle, thus being least strenuous to human eyes. The touch panel is also vastly stable as moving picture image sticking does not occur.
LGs IPS technology innovatively aligns liquid crystal technology to increase the viewing angle. Developed in 1996,IPS was initially meant to improve on the poor viewing angle and the poor color reproduction of twisted nematic (TN) panels at that time. The IPS panel is hard.
Its horizontal switch molecular arrangement does not change even on being knocked. When the IPS panel is pressed down, the original colours remain, with some change of brightness. Thus, comparing with the vertical arrangement made by the VA LCD technologies, the molecule reducibility of IPS technology is more powerful, and its panel is more stable and durable.
