Coming down heavily on the Liberhan Commission report that probed the demolition of Babri Masjid 17 years ago, the BJP today alleged that it was "perverse, unfounded, vague and uncertain" and like a "thesis" against the saffron party and the RSS.

"The Commission's report is perverse, unfounded, and has drawn its conclusions without any logic, without meaning and without appreciation of the evidence. The findings of the report, which is like a thesis against the BJP and the RSS, are vague and uncertain," senior BJP leader and former MP, Satya Pal Jain told a news conference here this evening.

He alleged that the Justice M S Liberhan Commission report tabled in both the Houses of the Parliament on Wednesday, appears to target senior BJP leaders including L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi.

Jain, who appeared as Advani's counsel before the Commission, also expressed surprise as to how former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had been indicted "when he was not summoned even once by the Commission".

"It's ironical that the Commission has remained silent on the role of former Prime Minister P V Narasimha, who deposed before the Commission (during whose tenure the Masjid was brought down). The entire nation has been left in a state of shock and surprise how Vajpayee was indicted when he was not even summoned once," he said, adding late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan had also not been given any opportunity to present his view before the Commission.

Jain also alleged that the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and the Home Ministry had "intentionally selectively leaked the Commission report in the media".

Time for a meaniful dialogue to resolve the issue.By: Jose Kallidikil | 26-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward It is time for us to resolve the Babri Masjid issue. now that the commission report is out, we know who are all responsible. the only surprise is mr. AtalBihari vajpayes alleged involvement or deliberate inaction. Punishing all RSS and BJP leaders who are involved in the demolition could only help to widen the rift between the Hindus and Muslims. What we need is to break the impasse. Let the Hindu leaders promise to Re-build Babri masjid may at a different location, close to the old babri Masjid. Let the nation bear the cost of this new Mosque. Let us build it through Karseva in which representatives of all political parties, relegious organizations, social and cultural organizations all take part as a pennance for our sin and injustice to the muslim brothern. Let our President representing the nation lay the Foundation stone and all union ministers take part atleast for a few hours in the karseva. once a mosque is built, building Srirama temple will become easy.
Time for a meaniful dialogue to resolve the issue.By: N.V.SANKARAN | 26-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Mr. Jose, your comment is perhaps the most sensible one under the circumstances. In fact, I have been expressing similar sentiments time and again. This is a very sensitive issue and can be resolved only through meaningful dialogue between responsible persons from both Hindu and Muslim communities. Any other solution, whether legal or political in favour of either side is only going to sustain the religious divide for generations. Much before the demolition of the mosque, some BJP and RSS leaders were reported to have promised to re-build the mosque, similar or even grander, at a different location in Ayodhya itself if the Muslim community had agreed to vacate the location which millions of Hindus believe is the birth place of Sri Ram. Unfortunately, for those who demand legal action against the people involved in the demolition, the history of Babri Masjid starts only from 1949 when some Hindu activist(miscreant as alleged by the atheist Nehru) placed an idol of Ram inside the Mosque. They refuse to accept that the dispute is as old as the masjid itself. According to some information, in 1753, the Faizabad district magistrate, while dismissing the petition of the descendant of the pujari of Ram temple had said," While there is sufficient evidence to believe that there was a temple at the location where the mosque was built, since the issue was more than 300 years old, it would be better if status-quo is maintained. However, all those who want to assail the BJP and Hindu organizations, want to dismiss all such info as myth just like they were trying to make the Ramasethu a myth. They forget that not even the most fanatical Hindus have ever suggested that Jesus or Prophet Mohammed were myths, while the secularists have no compunction in dismissing Ram, Ramayana and Ramasethu as just myths. This only increases the communal divide. I think the Indian Muslims, if left alone by the politicians will have no problem in handing over the place for Ram Temple on consideration that for millions of ordinary Hindus, Ayodhya is as sacred as Mecca and Medina.
Liberhan reports like a thesisBy: Shadi Katyal | 26-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward It is evident that we have learnt a good trick from our former Masters. whenever we wish to delay justice, we call for a Commission. In this and Delhi 1984 case, the facts were there and there was TV and media coverage so why so long. The statement that Advani was there for Ker Sewa is purposely misleading as this group didnot gather for that purpose but evidently for destruction Why is no body including the former PM charged for such destruction and later loss of lives and animosity created. When are we going to grow up and face the facts and give justice. British played that game of commission so that nation will forget any incident and thus will cool down and same game is being played. Seeing justice behavior when some questions were asked was pathetic. Why are our leaders always rude and arrogant???
liberhan reportBy: m j prakadan | 25-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward The report should not have taken more than 30 days to finalise. The TV recordings and eye witnesses were adequate to fix the blame so that legal actions as deemed fit could have been taken. Justice delayed is ........etc.
17 yearsBy: indian | 26-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Yes, i agree the report could have been finalised in 30 days time ! But why 17 years. This is the trik of liberhan . I feel he had struck a deal with the government to be on the committee and has power for 17 years to give such a report. NOW YOU KNOW WHAT THE DEAL IS
