The latest development in the tussle between veteran actor Thilakan and the film bodies in Kerala is the lifetime ban issued against the actor by AMMA,the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists.
It was the executive meeting of AMMA,held in Kochi on Monday,April 5,which took the decision to ban Thilakan for life. Thilakan was called before the executive meeting for explanation. The veteran actor was asked to express regret at the comments he had made against AMMA and senior members of the association. But since Thilakan stood his ground, saying that he had done nothing that demanded an apology,AMMA cancelled his membership. The Association, however, made it clear that this ban does not entail a ban from acting.

Thilakan, after the AMMA executive meeting, had told the press that he was not happy with the way the meeting was held. He opined that it was all prejudiced and also that popular actors Siddique and Idavela Babu even wanted to manhandle him.
