ISI men’s arrests: Accused’s trips to Pak as part of Sikh jatha baffle police officials
Frequent meetings of Naib Singh, a resident of Faridkot who was among four ISI agents arrested yesterday, with Pakistan-based Khalistani terrorists are under the scanner.
Special Narcotics Cell SSP PK Rai said they have got information about attempts at reviving terrorist activities in Punjab by the Pak-based Khalistani terrorists. The intelligence agencies are foxed how he managed visas to Pakistan as a Sikh Jatha member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in 2007 and 2008.
How could authorities clear Naib Singh and Baldev Singh’s trips to Pak when they had TADA cases against them, said sources. Rai said they were also looking for a “wanted Armyman”, who might have supplied the classified documents to these agents. “We will make a breakthrough in this regard shortly,” he said, adding, “Insider’s role is imminent because an outsider will not have an access to secret documents.”
“We have interrogated Naib Singh, and it seems that he met Khalistan Commando Force head Paramjit Singh Panjwar more than once,” said top-level sources in the police. They said he had also met some other Pak-based terrorists, who had been trying to revive militancy in Punjab. “The interrogation will open Pandora’s box,” said sources.
Besides Naib Singh and Baldev Singh, Sukhdev Singh, alias Bhola, and Randhir Singh, alias Master, all residents of Faridkot district, were nabbed in a joint operation by the SNC, intelligence agencies and the police.
