Services were disrupted for a few hours at Central Delhis LNJP hospital after the resident doctors went on strike late on Friday night. The doctors decided to go on strike after attendants of a 16-year-old patient allegedly beat them up while they were trying to revive the girl.
Speaking to Newsline, one of the doctors said the girl, who complained of abdominal pain and had low blood pressure, was brought to the hospital around 1 am. The doctor said,She collapsed on the main gate of the hospital and was referred to the surgery department. The doctors started the resuscitation procedure. One of the girls attendants saw that her clothing had been removed, which is a standard requirement. The attendants were not aware of this and started beating the doctors.
The doctors went on strike at around 4 am,demanding an FIR against the alleged attackers, tighter security in the hospital, and strict enforcement of the one-attendant-per-patient rule.
The strike was called off a few hours later, after hospital authorities agreed to the doctors demands.
