Lohri celebrated in city schools and colleges

  • All the students of Govt College got together and celebrated the festival of Lohri in the campus. For the first time the students tried to create a new adventurous atmosphere in the campus. Ramandeep Singh lighted the lamp to announce the beginning of the function while Jagdeep Singh advised the students to be friendly. The students performed western dances, sang tappe and songs of Lohri. Gurinderpal Singh sang a beautiful song and enthralled the audience. Robin Sharma, a famous student of the college won the hearts of students through his melodious voice. Talwinder Singh, Hardeep Singh, Chetan, Sikander Singh, Shaukat Ali and Harpreet Singh welcomed the guest of honor of this function, the famous Punjabi singer, “Inderjeet Nikku”. He sang his hit songs and songs of Lohri and made the students dance. The principal of the college, Malkit Singh encouraged the students to achieve success in their lives and fulfill their goals.

    SDP College for Women also celebrated Lohri on Monday on the college campus with fervour. The girls, wearing traditional and modern costumes and decked up with traditional and modern jewellery gathered in the seminar hall of the college and presented gala dances, folk songs and traditional dances and songs associated with Lohri. The whole function was a scintillating bonanza of modern and traditional culture and heritage.
