A Lok rakshak under training at the Police Training Academy committed suicide by jumping into the Narmada Canal at Karai on Thursday. Police said that his suicide note states that he ended his life as he had acute health problems.

The Adalaj police stated that the deceased, Lalsinh Vaghela (23) was staying at Adalaj but had gone to Karai for a few days for his training sessions. The Fire and Emergency Service Department fished out Vaghela’s body and sent it for a post-mortem at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital.

Sub-Inspector J H Pandya said: “He has left a suicide note stating that he was suffering from acute stomach ache. He took medicines for quite some time but when the problem continued, he took the extreme step and killed himself. The note doesn’t elaborate much on the problems he was facing.”

He added: “His family members have not spoken much about his health problem, whether he had a chronic disease or was just a stomach problem developed recently. The officers at training also claimed that they knew nothing about his ill health.”

The police claimed that the primary investigations have not come out with anything on his health problems. The police have registered a case of suicide and taken up further investigations.
