The Delhi Lokayukta on Friday issued a notice to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in connection with a complaint accusing her of “misrepresenting” facts to “gain political mileage” during the Assembly elections last November.
Lokayukta Justice Manmohan Sarin issued the notice after taking cognizance of a complaint filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker Sunita Bhardwaj.
Bhardwaj had alleged that Chief Minister Dikshit had misrepresented facts by claiming in an election pamphlet that 60,000 dwelling units were ready for distribution among the homeless in the city.
Bhardwaj, president of BJP Delhi unit’s RTI cell, said she, however, came to know, through an RTI application, that allotment of land has been made for only 9,000 flats.
“The Chief Minister’s claim is totally false,” Bhardwaj said.
In my application before the Lokayukta, I have produced the pamphlet and the government’s reply to my RTI query. She misrepresented facts to gain political mileage,” she added.
