A day after the parents of a kidnapped boy in Bihar’s Aurangabad claimed the abandoned Sikh boy in London was their son, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said his Government would get in touch with the Union Home Ministry for necessary action.

The matter was also raised in the state Legislative Council by RJD MLC Bhim Singh, a close relative nephew of the kidnapped boy, Sintu. Talking to reporters, the CM said the matter was brought to his notice by the RJD leader and he had taken it seriously.

“Our Government will take all necessary steps to help the parents in identifying the child found in London,” Kumar said. His Government would be getting in touch with the Centre as the matter concerned a foreign country, he added.

Sintu, the only son of Ganga Prasad and Bidiya Devi of Aurangabad, was kidnapped on March 3, 2005 at the age of six. After seeing pictures of the Sikh boy, the couple identified him as their lost son. They said the boy had many similarities to their son.

However, the state police is baffled as to how the Bihar boy could have ended up in London. Though kidnapping for ransom is rampant in Bihar, never has the involvement of an international racket come to light before. “The claim has perplexed us. However, we are taking it seriously. If needed I will personally go to London for the identification process,” said DGP Asish Ranjan Sinha.
