Options are running out for former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh. Armed with a clean chit from the Pathak panel, his party today lost little time in once again distancing itself from him and his son.
“The report is there for anyone to see. It is a very high-powered commission chaired by a former Chief Justice of India, said spokesman Abhishek Singhvi. On individuals concerned, he said, “Let us wait to study the report and then decide on the individual course of action.”
Reacting to the Pathak report, Natwar said, “Whatever has been leaked to the media proves I and my son are fully vindicated. The only aspersion against me and my son is that we misused our position. At that time, I was neither a minister nor an MP nor my son was an MLA. How does the question of misusing our position arise?” Natwar asked. He took another swipe at the party: “How can they cast aspersions on me and give Congress given a clean chit?”
Sources said Natwar is even looking at the possibility of resigning from the party. He is also likely to look at the Samajwadi Party for rehabilitation. Natwar has been in close contact with Amar Singh.
