Love bites

Remember that shapeless half burnt omelette, spiced with loads of love served to you on a fine Sunday morning.

Be it samosas or three-course menu — for these couples — love and togetherness is the main ingredient of their most memorable meal

Remember that shapeless half burnt omelette, spiced with loads of love served to you on a fine Sunday morning. The chain of reactions that it eventually set off rested on a simple principle of being loved and cared for. And bearing testimony to this are couples across the length and breath of society who would identify with the situation – it could be somebody’s first or only day in the kitchen. And irrespective of the tastes, the meal turns out to be fantastic,in ways more than one for many, when it is spiced up with love.

Recalling his most romantic meal together, artist Milind Mulick, says,“Way back in the year 1994,we were on a trip to Udaypur and were wary of having ‘good’ food. And suddenly,my wife,Keerti and I unanimously agreed to have samosas and barfis with nimbu sharbet at a roadside stall. Though the food was simple and, some might even view it as unhealthy, but the romantic moment came when we agreed simultaneously. No differences of opinion,no time wasted in convincing one another, the only thing associated with it was fun and togetherness.”

However,Keerti Mulick feels that dinner during their recent trip to Lonavala was far more romantic. “Both of us went to Lonavala for a couple of days and it was wonderful. We went out for dinner during the evenings where we discussed so much on the table. A proper heart-to-heart talk combined with good food made that occasion memorable for me.”

While samosas helped Mulick,Hitesh Jain,an advocate by profession had to slog it out in the kitchen to prove his culinary skills. The by-product of which, was a memorable romantic moment. “We have been married for 13 years now,and yet thinking about that day refreshes both me and my wife. We were newly weds then and I had cooked breakfast for her comprising of Pohe and tea. It was exciting for me to do it for her,not only because I wanted to do something very sweet for her but also because people doubted my cooking skills and I wanted to prove that not only could I cook, but also that I could do it well. Having that simple yet wonderful breakfast was an amazing experience. The moment brought in lot of love and most importantly the feeling of belongingness.”

Vivin Kuriakose, who works for a renowned hotel in the city, flaunted his hotel knowledge of food in the right place for the right person. “I took my girlfriend, now my wife,to Goa on a surprise trip and at the pool side restaurant at a renowned hotel there,I designed a three course menu for her. I prepared the food and served it and what amused me most was the expression on her face. She was floored by the gesture and she loved the duck that I cooked.”

“Both Meryl and me play a game, wherein we are always competing with each other on who can surprise the other and in the process end up doing things for each other. Eventually it boils down to one thing, that is,strengthening the relationship and making it more beautiful,” he adds. And if all this has not yet melted the harshed of cynics then a romantic setting sun,sea breeze and privacy and most important company of the person who you love the most, would. And even though Dr Ravindra Kulkarni failed in putting his emotions to words,to his better half,Dr Aaditi Kulkarni, his wife didn’t. When separately asked about their most romantic meal, the couple ended up telling the same story without any difference of opinion. While Ravindra liked the company, privacy and the environs,Aaditi considers the company and the small talks that did the magic trick. “I was with the person, whom I love most and we were discussing about all our beautiful moments that we had spent before our marriage while we were going out. All this happened in Kuala Lumpur, which is a beautiful place and made the moment more special.”
