There is more to love, sex and relationships than the nature metaphor of birds and bees!

"Love Matters", a website produced by Radio Netherlands Worldwide comes to the rescue of young couples who may have many questions relating to sex, their wedding night and other anxieties revolving around married life, but don't have a reliable source to turn to.

"We conducted a survey in Delhi and Mumbai and a sizable number of youngsters surveyed said they wanted more information about what to expect before and after marriage, but in a discreet manner. They did not want the information from their parents or elders," says Vithika Yadav, Head of India operations of Love Matters Project.

The website calls itself an "open, honest and sex- friendly" website, which shares information about sexuality, safe sex, birth control and various other related topics.

To develop content, the online site has partnered with DKT condoms (India) and the NGO Tarshi, which has been been operating a helpline on issues of sexuality, sexual and reproductive health and rights for over 13 years.

The forum has been operating in several countries and features regularly updated reports on sex-related topics from around the world, as well as blush-free information to help visitors get the best out of sex and relationships and stay healthy and happy.

"For India, we have a hindi site where we localised the content. The english site was launched two years ago and the Hindi in November 2011. We are now expanding it to include marriage related advice and new resources," says Vithika.

Sections like "Auntyji" section, where visitors can post queries on any topic has been very well received, she says.

"We are very encouraged that even men have emailed us asking how to treat their wifes and girlfriends in the right manner. They seem to have got some ideas from watching films and elsewhere which may not always be right. We ask them to treat women respectfully," says Vithika.
