Lt Gen M C Badhani new BRO chief

Lieutenant General M C Badhani will take over the reins of elite Border Roads Organisation from incumbent Lieutenant General A K Nanda.

Lieutenant General M C Badhani,an experienced military engineer,will take over the reins of elite Border Roads Organisation (BRO) from incumbent Lieutenant General A K Nanda on Monday. Badhani will be the 20th Director General of BRO since its establishment in 1960,the Defence Ministry said here.

Nanda,himself,will take over as the new Engineer-in-Chief of the Army from incumbent Lt Gen Gautam Dutt this month end.

Badhani,an alumnus of National Defence Academy at Khadakvasla near Pune,was commissioned into the Bengal Sapper in November 1971.

During his 38-year Army service,the General Officer has held varied command,instructional and staff appointments,including the command of an Engineer Regiment,Chief Engineer of an Army Corps and Chief Engineer of an Army Command.

He also completed courses in Wellington-based Defence Services Staff College,Army War College at Mhow and the capital-based National Defence College.

Before taking over as the BRO Director General,Badhani was the Commandant of the Selection Centre (East) at Allahabad.

The BRO has,over the years,earned the reputation of being the only road construction agency to maintain roads in difficult and inhospitable terrain and climate by constructing 46,780 km roads,33,060 metres of bridges,19 airfields,both within the country and abroad.
