Lucknow IT Park: Govt extends deadline for applications again

The UP government has again failed to attract developers for its ambitious IT park project in Lucknow despite extending the last date to submit Expression of Interest twice.

The UP government has again failed to attract developers for its ambitious IT park project in Lucknow despite extending the last date to submit Expression of Interest twice. It has now decided to extend the last date for submission of EOI — to September 10 — for one more time.

Senior officials of Lucknow Industrial Development Authority said it was their last attempt to attract developers. If the parties do not turn up,the government will go ahead for tender with just two companies, which had initially applied for the project, they said.

Initially, the last date for submission of EOI from developers was August 6,Then only two developers,Gurgaon-based Raheja Developers and Hyderabad-based Aditya Housing and Infrastructure Development corporation Private Limited had applied for the project. Given the poor response, the government extended the last date by 15 days,to August 25. On Monday, when the status remained unchanged, the government extended the last date by another two weeks.

“This is our last attempt. If the number of interest private players does not increase, then we would go ahead with the tender process with just two developers only,” said a senior government officer.

The developer will develop all the facilities for the park, right from roads, streetlights to laying of optical fiber, etc. with an investment of Rs 300 crore. The park is proposed to come up on 32 acres of land available with Lucknow Industrial Development Authority on Lucknow-Kanpur Road.
