Lucknow reach U-19 football semis

  • Lucknow Region defeated Kanpur Region by 2-0 in their quarter-final match to secure a berth for themselves in the last four stage of the State Level Junior Boys (Under-19) Football Tournament being held at KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium, Lucknow. On behalf of Lucknow, Shani Prakash and Sushant Mall were the goal-getters.

    In the other quarter-final matches, Faizabad beat Allahabad 2-0, Varanasi beat Aligarh 14-0 while Meerut beat Bareilly through tie-breaker. The semi-final matches will be played on Wednesday.

    Kick boxing team
    The Amateur Kick Boxing Association, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday announced the UP team which will be representing the state in the 14th Junior Boys/ Girls National Kick Boxing Tournament to be organised at Dehradun from November 12 to 15.

    The team includes: Ritesh Kasana (Ghaziabad), Akash Chaudhary, Sushil Chaudhary, Ajay Kumar, Sarvesh Diwakar, Harsh (all from Agra), Khushboo Chauhan, Vaibhav Sharma, Deeksha Singh (all from Aligarh), Ajay Chauhan, Sandeep Vishwakarma, Kripa Nand Yadav, JM Qadeer (all from Gorakhpur), Swati Pawar, Pooja Tomar, Neelam Rana, Nikhilesh Kumar, Mannu Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Muzaffar Qureshi, Mehtab Ansari (all from Muzaffarnagar), Vikas Raj, Virendra Kumar Rawat, Maninder, Avdhesh (all from Lucknow), Bajrang Baghel, Vikas Singh, Kamlesh Maurya, Suraj, Aditya Kumar, Fazal, Raj Singh (all from Azamgarh), Om Prakash Rai, Nagendra Singh, Shadab Khan, Devendra Prasad Prajapati, Shailendra Singh (all from Azamgarh); Coach: Gajendra Singh; Manager: Shamsher.

    Volleyball trials
    Under the joint auspices of the Regional Sports Office, Lucknow and the District Volleyball Association, the district level junior boys’ volleyball trials/ selections will be organised from 10.00 am on November 12 at KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium, Lucknow. Boys born after 1.1. 1992 may appear for the trials along with their age certificates which should be duly certified by the principals of their respective schools/ colleges.
