  • In the Central Hall of Parliament, any reference to “Madam” is taken to be an allusion to Congress president Sonia Gandhi or Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar. But now, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee too has joined the club. The sudden upswing in Mamata’s clout is evident everywhere. The catering staff go out of their way to shower attention on her MPs (“Madam ke log). Some could be seen taking tips from Trinamool MPs on their culinary tastes. The reason is clear: the catering service is provided by the Railways.
