  • In the backdrop of the Sachar Committee’s findings, the Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind (JUH) has demanded a separate sub-quota for Muslims under the existing quota for SCs and OBCs. The demand was raised by JUH general secretary Mahmood A Madani here today.

“The small packages for SC/STs have not benefited them as much as reservation. Thus, small packages for Muslims will also never help in the community’s uplift,” said Madani, adding, “We demand reservation for Muslims in proportion to the community’s population figures.” Madani expressed disappointment over the action taken by the government over the recommendations of the Sachar Committee.
