Magsaysay Award winner and member of National Advisory Council Deep Joshi has been appointed as chairman of the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA).
Joshi will assume charge after present chairman Y K Alagh's second term gets over on November 27, said a press release issued by the institute on Friday. Joshi will be the fourth chairman of IRMA.
The institute had formed a three-member search committee comprising Planning Commission member Mihir Shah, Gujarat Ecology Commission's ex-chairman Hasmukh Shah and Gujarat Vidyapeeth Vice-Chancellor Sudarshan Iyengar. The search process continued for six months.
Joshi was conferred Magsaysay Award in 2009 and the Padma Shri in 2010.
