The overall state pass percentage was 78.66, while the figure stood at 85.30 per cent for Mumbai division.
Shilpa Basavraj Hiremath of Latur scored 98.61 per cent to emerge overall topper in Maharashtra, while Sonali Shantrama Chavan of Saraswati Secondary School in Thane topped the Mumbai division with 96.46 per cent.
Anjali Anant Jadhav of A P Goregaonkar Engineering School, Goregaon, topped the list of backward class category in Mumbai division with 95.84 per cent.
Sonal Ramprakash Singh of Canoca Night School, Mahim, scored 84.15 per cent to bag the first rank among the night school students.
In the handicapped category, Navneet Bajaj Merol of Sane Guruji English Medium School, Dadar, was the topper with 94.61 per cent.
In keeping with the recent trend, the girls outwitted boys with a total pass percentage of 82.1. The pass percentage among boys was 78.66.
Among the eight SSC Board divisions in the state, Nashik registered the highest pass percentage of 85 pc while the lowest was 73.65 in Kolhapur division.
The overall topper Shilpa belongs to Adarsh Vidyalaya, Umarga, in Osmanabad district of the Latur division, which traditionally is known to throw up toppers in what is called the "Latur Pattern".
The SSC board will be giving a newly instituted award of Rs 10,000 in memory of 'Natyacharya Khadilkar', to the Marathi medium student securing maximum marks in Marathi from this year, Vijaysheela Sardesai, Chairman of the Board headquartered in Pune, announced.
