Maharashtra fold up for 282

Maharashtra folded up their first innings at 282 all out, adding just 55 runs to their overnight score on day two of play. Shreekant Wagh was the pick of the Vidarbha bowlers as he snapped up five Maharashtra wickets giving away just 23 runs. Wagh was highly accurate in his bowling and out of the 27 overs that the left-arm pacer bowled, 17 were maiden overs.

Maharashtra's debutant centurion Virag Awate was able to add just 15 more runs to his score while captain Rohit Motwani departed after adding just a single to his overnight score of 24. Once Awate fell for 126, Maharashtra's brittle middle-order folded rather meekly.

Kedar Jadhav edged a Wagh outswinger to the keeper while Shrikant Mundhe was cleaned up by the part-time off-spin of Faiz Fazal. Chirag Khurana, demoted to number seven, hung around for some time managing 20 runs but was soon trapped leg before by the impressive Wagh.

Vidarbha were also rattled in the early overs by Maharashtra as Samad Fallah disturbed former India opener Shiv Sunder Das' stumps and Dominic Muthuswamy cleaned up Vidarbha debutant Urvesh Patel. Faiz Fazal, who played for Railways last season looked in prime form as he comfortably stroked boundaries on both sides of the wicket. Chirag Khurana soon accounted for Shalabh Shrivastava, deceiving him with turn and forcing him to spoon a catch to Ankit Bawne. Former India batsman Hemang Badani averted any further damage as he kept Fazal company to take Vidarbha to 123 for three at stumps, 159 runs behind Maharashtra.
