Maharashtra trio books India A berths against England

Three players from the Maharashtra Ranji Trophy team have been selected in the India A squad to face England in a one-day match on of January 6 in Delhi. Kedar Jadhav, Rohit Motwani and Akshay Darekar will be making the trip to Delhi to be part of the squad.

Jadhav had scored a blistering triple-century in Maharashtra's Ranji Trophy opener against Uttar Pradesh and then added another ton in the game against Haryana. Jadhav finished the season with an aggregate of 627 runs at an average of 48.23. Motwani, the Maharashtra skipper, is the lone wicketkeeper in the squad. The stumper recorded 17 dismissals in eight Ranji Trophy games and also scored a hundred against UP. Motwani's dogged 91 against Baroda helped Maharashtra attain the crucial first innings lead.

Both Motwani and Jadhav were also part of the India B squad in the Challenger trophy which ended up winning the competition. Darekar, the final Maharashtra name in the squad has had a middling season. The left-arm tweaker picked up 10 wickets in the season and also picked up a knee injury in Maharashtra's penultimate group game. However, Darekar's exploits in India A tour of the West Indies in June where he finished as the second highest wicket-taker held him in good stead and ensured a place in the squad to face England as they return for a five-match ODI series.
