  • MNS MLAs
The four suspended MLAs of MNS being garlanded after they disrupted the oath taking ceremony in Maharashtra Assembly.

Raj Thackeray-led MNS, whose members assaulted SP legislator Abu Asim Azmi in the Maharashtra Assembly, on Wednesday said they would apologise to the House for their action but not to the MLA.

"We will apologise in the Assembly as it was not our intention to malign the image of the House. However, there is no question of apologising to Azmi," MNS leader Atul Sarpotdar said.

"The whole controversy started because of one person - Abu Asim Azmi. It was not our intention to lower the dignity of the House. What happened was a spontaneous reaction by our MLAs," Sarpotdar said.

Raj Thackeray had issued a statement asking all MLAs in the Assmebly to take oath in Marathi but Azmi deliberately chose to take oath in Hindi, Sarpotdar said.

"MNS group leader in Assembly, Bala Nandgaonkar, will speak to Raj Thackeray today on the issue of tendering an apology for Monday's incident and would, during the course of the day, apologise to the House," Sarpotdar said.

Is not MNS like a Taliban outfit?By: Sat | 11-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward We condemn Talibans for their acts specially when they dictate terms on how one should live, dress, girls studying in schools, hijab, etc. Talibans bomb and destroy life and property. In the same way, MNS go on rampage adn do similar things. In here, should we not look at MNS and Talibans, Muhajeens and realize that they have similar types of principles? Don't they do things alike? So what's the difference between Talibans and MNS? Think Marathi manus, think well and realize that your life, prosperity is very precious, not just language and identity of being a Marathi manus. No one will know you until you open your mouth. Body language is enough to understand a dumb man.
Petty politicsBy: Sakthi | 11-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward It is very sad that a progressive state like MH is spending its energy in worthless issues and getting diverted from the real issues affecting the peoples of Maharastra. The Sena and MNS combine is doing a great harm to the state by indulging in petty issues. They did not learn a lesson even after the got defeated repeatedly by the Marathi Manoos. Only a cvonstructive approach will bring them to power not this silly issues.
Abu Aazmi himself responsibleBy: Ganesh Joshi | 11-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Altuough, personally I would not try to glorify the misdeeda of the 4 MNS MLAs,the most widely conception in majority of educated Maharashtrians is that Abu Aazmi, himself is not a constructive and progressive leader with transperant charactar. He is responsible for obstrucing runway extention of Mumbai Airport by patronizing the slums adjacent to its boundary walls. Also rather than trying to integrate North Indians and Muslims living in Mumbai,he is playing divisive politics to create a seperatist vote bank for himself and likes to eventually demand seperation of Mumbai from Maharastra as a union territory. Qustion is could Abu Aazmi would have dared to take oath in Hindi, had he been elected to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka or Andhra Pradesh Assembly? It is well known that in U.P. Assembly also, sometime in the nintees, newly elected Muslims were not allowed to take the oath in Urdu since declared official language was Hindi in Devnagari script! On this background, why blame Raj Thakre or MNS
