Gujarat Congress on Wednesday alleged that the time capsule buried beneath the newly constructed Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar instead of having history of the state has details about Chief Minister Narendra Modi only.
“At the time of construction of Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, the state government decided to bury time capsule beneath it. We have come to know from the documents received from the state government that it contains literature and photos of the last few years rule of Narendra Modi,” state Congress president Arjun Modhvadia alleged on Wednesday.
“Time capsule is meant for future generations to discover the past. Gujarat government in the Golden Jubilee year of the state had decided to keep such a time capsule beneath the Mahatma Mandir. At the time the government had announced that the time capsule will contain the history of the state’s 50 years journey,” he said.
“However, the documents obtained by us from the state government reveal that instead of history of the state, the material kept in the time capsule is mostly about Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and his tenure of last few years,” Modhvadia claimed.
“They have forgotten contributions of Mahatma Gandhi,Sardar Patel and all the chief ministers of the Gujarat who have toiled for development of the state. I wish to ask the Chief Minister, whether no important leader has been have born in Gujarat except Modi?,” he added.
The BJP,however, denied the allegations and said the charges levelled by the Congress were baseless as the time capsule has details about entire history of the state. “The time capsule has details of history of India, its eternal culture, values and prosperity. It has details of India’s freedom struggle led by Mahatma Gandhi,Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s contribution in making of present India and work done by all the 13 Chief Ministers of the state,” state government spokesman Jaynarayan Vyas said.
