Main accused wanted in 8 murder cases

The Haryana Police carried out an exhaustive combing operation in the fields of several villages of Dadri town in Bhiwani district on Friday in connection with the twin murder that took place in Bond Kalan village on Wednesday. "We are carrying out search operations in the fields, because we suspect that Kolbir (main accused) might be hiding in one of the fields. We are also developing certain vital inputs on his suspected hideouts and shall be arresting him soon," one of the senior Haryana police officers told The Indian Express .

"Various teams have been constituted to nab Kolbir. He cannot escape for long. Our teams are on the job and whoever is involved in this crime shall not be spared," said A S Chawla, Inspector General of Police, Hisar range.

Kolbir, the prime accused in the brutal murder Kuldeep and Rajender, is allegedly wanted in connection with over eight cases of murders and attempt to murder. The hardcore criminal, who allegedly shot and killed the brothers on Wednesday night, was first arrested by the Haryana police in connection with a murder case in early 2000. After being convicted, Kolbir was out of jail in 2004 and in the past seven years has been evading police arrest and was allegedly involved in over eight cases of various heinous crimes. The Haryana Director General of Police, S N Vashisht, on Thursday, had announced a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh for the arrest of Kolbir.

According to the family of the deceased and other residents of Bond Kalan village, Haryana Police personnel posted in the village police station were aware of Kolbir's location and his previous criminal record, but never dared to arrest him. "Kolbir kept harassing and attacking people because of his proximity with the police posted in the area. He used to visit the police station frequently and have drinks with them. Despite many villagers complaining about his criminal acts to the police, nobody dared to take any action against him," said Dr Tejpal, a resident of Bond Kalan.
