Wishes to tap into new wealth of India
Looking at the rise of India,Malaysia Property Incorporated (MPI),a government agency,is here to promote corporate and individual Foreign Direct Investment. The authorities launched Malaysia My Second Home on Friday.
The three cities were chosen for special reasons: Ludhiana lies in the heart of Punjab and is commonly known as the Manchester of India due to its affluence while New Delhi and Chennai are known as major metro cities in India with a significant population of multi-millionaires, said Chief Executive Officer of MPI, Kumar Tharmalingam.
The campaign will be officially rolled out in Delhi and Chennai on October 17 and 19. According to the campaign,Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) – the government is inviting people to invest in Malaysia. One can buy property,or commercial establishment and even a flat. The investor will be given a 10 year multiple pass by the Malaysian government so that one can easily travel, he said.
While there had been previous efforts to promote MM2H and Malaysia property investment in India in the past, they were limited to participation in sporadic trade-related exhibitions. This campaign is part of a series of new initiatives to introduce MM2H and to position Malaysia as a real estate investment destination to a rising market of affluent Indian investors, he added.
The authorities said that when Tourism Malaysia first opened its office in India in 2000,only 45,000 Indians visited Malaysia. In 2010,6,90,849 tourists from India visited Malaysia and recorded a growth of 17.1 per cent over 2009 despite it being a recession year.
