Mamata condemns Israel attack on Gaza Strip
Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee condemned the Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip on Tuesday.
Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee condemned the Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip on Tuesday. She urged the Centre to send relief,if need be,representatives and appealed to the United Nations (UN) to intervene in the matter.
Addressing a gathering,Banerjee said: We condemn such attacks carried out by the Israelis. After the death of Palestine Liberation Organisation leader Yasser Arafat, the party is being oppressed by the Israeli government. Innocent women and children are being made victims of violence and injustice. The gathering saw the likes of Kabir Suman,Idris Ali Barkati and Trinamool MLA Sougata Ray.
Wherever and whenever there has been injustice and oppression,Mamata has raised her voice. It is Bengals bad luck that she is not the chief minister. We condemn what is happening on the global front and hope that peace will prevail, said Barkati.
Block Divisional Officer (BDO) Daspur II in East Medinapore,Kallol Surs father Dilip Sur also participated in the gathering. Kallol was found murdered on August 8 last year. Banerjee said her party will support the cause of Kallol Surs parents.
Dilip Sur had filed a writ petition in the Calcutta High Court appealing for a CBI probe into his sons death.
My son was murdered by Sub-Divisional Officer Gautam Majumder because he raised his voice against the atrocities of the ruling party. The police and the administrative officers are mere puppets in their hands. My son sacrificed his life for justice and truth, said Dilip.
