That apart,Mamata will soon inaugurate Metro railway extensions to Joka in the southern and Barrackpore in the northern fringes of Kolkata,zas also various projects in Jangalmahal,including a community centre in Jhargram.

In the past two weeks,four programmes had to be cancelled in South 24 Parganas because the district magistrate did not give permission to Mamata on various grounds,including ongoing school exams.

Since school and secondary examinations are going on,we will conduct inauguration programmes on the platforms of different stations. Earlier,we were denied permission to hold programmes in open fields in South 24 Parganas, said a senior Railways officer.

According to party sources,theres no time to waste with the municipal polls round the corner. The CPM leaders are using loudspeakers,but we will follow the rules and hold programmes at railway stations. This will not disturb anyone, said a party leader.
