Keeping her Budget promise,Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee will launch two ladies special trains on August 5. Dubbed as a Rakhi gift on Raksha Bandhan day to women,Banerjee will flag off Delhi-Palwal and Mumbai-Panvel ladies special trains catering to the needs of rising number of women office goers. Both the trains will be flagged off simultaneously by the minister from here through a remote control system. The Mumbai launching would be shown live on a large screen at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus station there. There will be eight new type coaches in the EMU ladies special train,Northern Railway General Manager Vivek Sahai said. Keeping the safety and security of women travellers in mind,Sahai said women RPF personnel and lady TTEs would be deployed in the ladies special trains. For the National Capital Region this is the first ladies train to be launched in the office rush hour. Similar trains are already operational in Mumbai. A ladies special train has also started recently in Kolkata. The Delhi-Palwal train will leave at 8.25 am from Palwal in Haryana and reach New Delhi station at 9.45 am covering a distance of 60 km. The return journey will begin at 5.45 pm from Delhi. Except Sundays,the train will run everyday.
